During Ph.D. study, he made a systematic investigation, collaborated with colleagues and using XL-II laser system, on directional emission of fast electrons in ultra-short intense laser irradiated solid target. Optical and ion emission were also applied to diagnose transport of fast electrons through dense plasma. As a research fellow, he was involved or led several joint experiments performed using the world-leading laser facilities (Vulcan PW in UK and Phelix laser in Germany). He was also involved in the target area constructions of XL-II and XL-III in IOP, CAS., and also design and preparatory of Strathclyde Laser-ion acceleration station using TOPs laser.
