Great Progress in Plasma Optical Modulators for Intense Lasers

Recently, Yu Lule, Sheng Zhengming from Department of Physics and Astronomy of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and their partner raised a new method to modulate the spectrum and space-time characteristics of intense laser light, by using ultra-fast plasma optical modulators for intense lasers.

SJTU President Zhang Jie Won Edward Teller Award

SJTU President Zhang Jie is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, physical scientist in the field of laser plasma, and the President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He and his team have made great contributions in the study of quick fire laser fusion and the study of astrophysics in the intense laser laboratory. On the 24th of September 2015, Zhang won the 2015 Edward Teller Award of the American Nuclear Society. This is the first time that Chinese scientist won the highest prize in this field, which add to the honors to the relative researches in our country.

第四届“强激光科学与工程暑期学校”在上海交通大学举办

2014年7月27日至8月3日，第四届“强激光科学与工程暑期学校”在上海交通大学闵行校区开课。本次暑期学校由国家重大专项的科学发展部举办，“IFSA协同创新中心”承办。暑期学校邀请了在强激光科学与技术、激光等离子体加速方面的国际、国内著名专家学者授课，旨在向学员介绍在这两方面的重要理论基础及前沿科学技术的最新进展。本次暑期学校共有来自上海交通大学、北京大学、浙江大学、中国工程物理研究院、中科院等国内十家相关单位的四十多名研究生及老师参加。
